Benefits of Playing Games

Creativity:

Games facilitate creativity in problem solving. If you are under attack from your opponent in a game or missing something and it is your turn to play next, you must quickly decide what to do to survive and progress. This kind of challenge sparks creativity which improves with more games played and can be applied to real-life problems.

Games: Chess, Draughts, jumping games.

Resilience:

Tenacity, persistence and resilience are required to complete games with a desirable result. Recovering from a losing streak does not usually start in real life; it starts in board and card games or on playgrounds. The resilience through iteration learned during gameplay teaches people to adapt to difficult situations to achieve success.

Connection:

Playing games creates a space for people to socialize and be vulnerable with each other and this facilitates bonding as teammates or competitors.

Dynamic role play builds the player’s imagination, encourages empathy and the understanding of different perspectives.

Why we encourage physical games

Hands-on playing is important for the healthy development of children. Games and toys encourage free thinking, creative imagination, and stimulate all the five senses.

Enjoy screen-free time:

Pediatricians recommend limiting screen time to 1-2 hours a day for different ages, and encourage adults to view with the children to offer guidance. Games offer alternative entertainment for people
outside screen time.

Interaction & connection through play:

Children learn best from their caregivers and through gameplay,
children can process their environment and build the necessary skills to develop and learn.
